Standing on the Promises of God

2 Corinthians 1:20 - For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

I entered 2011 after experiencing one of the most challenging years in my life.  My Mom transitioned on 23 January 2010 and through that hurt God allowed me to give the eulogy the following weekend.  The challenge itself was not her transition because that was absolutely God, but the void of her absence and inability to hear her voice or her encouragement which served as a source of strength for me was undeniably painful.  The truth of the matter is that I was not caught off guard regarding her departure but I could not fathom the void it would leave day after day.  Her personal touch was absolutely impeccable and this was no longer there.  Ultimately, I had to find the strength she had in her within me.  The determination to find that strength made the challenge bearable.  And so the Lord turned me to our 2011 key passage and there I found principles to VICTORY.

First, I found out that I really did have God’s Promises. He promised that He would not leave me, nor forsake me. He promised that He would be with me always. He promised me that Mom was secure, sealed, and safe. He promised me that He would be my strength in weakness. He promised me that if I trusted Him, He would supply every need.  And so trusting Him and His promises became my source, strength and solution. I had His promises, and with His promises came His presence. Once I believed what God said and encountered Him in a very difficult season, I finally had His power. I could endure the process.  The void in the transition was being made bearable. I received the YES of God, the affirmation of God; He then came back and agreed to what He promised by saying AMEN.  Amen means so be it or it’s done.  Hence, not only does He affirm His promises but He also confirms them.  His promises, presence, and power positioned me through the process and make me His glory in the earth. And so, here we are a year later boldly standing on the promises of God.

May God find you in 2011 postured in the process with power for the promise.
